Cookie Policy

Effective: October 2026•Version 2.1•Transparent Tracking

Minimalist & Security-Focused Cookie Usage

Starlork values your privacy and digital autonomy. Unlike conventional internet platforms that deploy invasive tracking networks, our use of cookies and local browser storage is strictly limited to essential authentication, network session security, and core platform functionality.

1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

Cookies are small alphanumeric text files placed on your browser or mobile device when you access the Starlork Captive Portal, Website, or Dashboard. We also utilize modern browser technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage to store state securely on your local device.

2. Categories of Cookies We Use

We divide our browser storage into the following clearly defined functional categories:

Essential Authentication & Session Cookies

Strictly Necessary

Provided via our secure Supabase infrastructure (e.g., sb-*-auth-token). These encrypted tokens keep you authenticated as you navigate between your dashboard screens, view active passes, and manage your account settings without having to re-enter your credentials on every page.

Captive Portal & Network Handshake Tokens

Operational

When you connect to a Starlork campus Wi-Fi access point, local session storage parameters are used to coordinate your device MAC address with our gateway routers and SDN controllers, ensuring your internet access is provisioned seamlessly.

Security & Anti-CSRF Tokens

Security

We store cryptographic tokens to prevent Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks. These ensure that malicious external websites cannot trigger unauthorized payment transactions or account actions on your behalf.

Functional Preferences

Preferences

We store your cookie banner acceptance preference (cookie_consent) and user interface preferences in localStorage so you are not repeatedly prompted on subsequent visits.

3. Third-Party Payment Processor Cookies

When purchasing passes or settling balances, our regulated payment partners (Paystack and Hubtel) may set temporary functional cookies within their secure modal frames. These cookies are required by banking standards to detect fraudulent card usage, verify Mobile Money authorization handshakes, and comply with PCI-DSS security protocols. Starlork does not have access to or control over these third-party gateway cookies.

4. Zero Third-Party Advertising & Cross-Site Tracking

No Invasive Ad Networks

Starlork does NOT embed third-party advertising tracking networks, retargeting pixels (such as Meta Pixel or TikTok Pixel), or data brokerage scripts. Your browsing activity on the internet while connected to our satellite Wi-Fi is never linked to marketing cookies or sold to ad exchanges.

5. How to Control or Disable Cookies

You have complete control over cookies on your devices:

  • Browser Settings: You can configure your browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge) to reject or delete cookies.
  • Impact of Disabling: Please note that because our authentication and captive portal mechanisms rely on strictly necessary session tokens, disabling all cookies will prevent you from logging into your Starlork Dashboard or completing online pass checkouts.

6. Policy Updates & Inquiries

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted directly to this page with an updated “Effective” date. For inquiries regarding our cookie practices, please contact our technical team at support@starlork.com.
